Preloved Furniture or Clothing

We rely on volunteers to reach the many people we do. Whether it is organising donated goods, running therapy courses or answering crisis calls, we provide training for volunteers. Contact us to find out more about becoming a volunteer.

New Zealand is a caring community and many people want to donate furniture, clothing, bedding and so many other items. If you have items you want to donate, contact us directly to find out if we are able to receive your gift.

On behalf of all the women and children who will benefit from your generosity in future years, we sincerely thank you for your act of kindness and consideration.

What We Do:

As New Zealand's leading agency in providing domestic violence services, we rely on volunteers to answer our crisis lines, manage donations of goods and products, and even run some of our programmes. Of the 1000 women (and some men) who work for us, over 50% are volunteers.

  • Women's Refuge advocates answer one call every six minutes to our crisis/support lines.

  • An average of 25,000 women and children use our services each year.

  • On average 224 women and children are so afraid in their own homes, they need to use our safe houses each night in New Zealand.

  • We deliver dozens of educational programmes on the impact of domestic violence to women who use our services and also members of the public.

  • We help children to understand how to deal with their experiences and how to stay safe in the future.

  • We distribute approximately 50,000 pieces of educational information and resources about domestic violence every year.

  • Our website receives an average of 40,000 independent visitors each year.

  • Our advocates are trained to assess risk, help women and children with safety plans, and assist when a women seeks a protection order.

  • We have over 2000 loyal donors... but we always need more.
